Enterprise SONiC

Open Network Software for Ethernet Switches

Overview

SONiC, part of the Linux Foundation, is an open source network operating system (NOS)  based on Linux offering a full-suite of network functionality, that has been production-hardened in the data centers of some of the largest cloud-service providers, leveraging the collective strength of a large ecosystem and community.

Broadcom is a premier member of the SONiC project in the Linux Foundation supporting the mission of enabling mass innovation through open source. Broadcom is the largest contributor to the SONiC open source community after Microsoft and has made significant contributions to SONiC like Unified Management Framework, Platform Development Kit, EVPN/VXLAN, Spytest Automation Framework, and numerous others.

Broadcom has worked with several key partners on use cases including Dual TOR, Distributed Chassis, PINS (P4 Integrated Network Stack) and Edge Networking. SONiC is supported on over 50+ ODM and OEMs platforms based on industry leading StrataXGS® family of silicon (Tomahawk and Trident) from Broadcom.
